The Path to Becoming a Software Developer
Software developers have been among the most coveted job titles of the last decade. Everyone has heard of the coders at FAANG companies that are making big bucks fresh out of college, coding away at their computers all day. Most people aren’t even aware that you don’t need a Bachelor’s degree to secure a good paying software developer role. In fact, there are programs that can help a budding software developer become properly certified with an MS in software development in as little as 10 months.
These programs are focused on instilling research and problem solving skills in their students through 1:1 mentorship. There are two curriculum tracks that are available, including real time software development and full stack development. Students are tasked with creating their own project portfolio that can be showcased as part of their resume when applying for jobs.
There are many other ways these programs are designed to train the software developers to be competitive in the job market. Their course loads are designed to take a 50 hour per week commitment so they are well acclimated to the pace of their potential jobs. The coursework is also equivalent to 2-3 years of hands-on experience, so students are able to start their careers as mid-level software developers.
