The best way to promote your music is to find new fans! It’s not as easy as it sounds, though. The internet has made it easier than ever for talent such as yours to get out there and reach the masses. But how do you know which strategies are going to work for you? Well, we’re here to help with that question. In this article we will go over five different ways you can promote your music and gain new fans:
Promote on social media
Social media is one of the best ways to promote your music. New social media platforms are popping up all over, and it’s more important than ever for you to be present on every platform possible (we know…it feels like an endless task!). Make sure that you have a presence on at least the main social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok. You can also sign up for a service like Socialbakers to help you manage all your profiles from one place.
Follow others on social media that have a similar fan base to yours. If they’re already established artists with lots of fans who are interested in what you do, then their followers will become instant fans of yours! Who doesn’t want more people following them? That being said… make sure you don’t randomly follow thousands of accounts just so they’ll follow back – it’s not going to work!
Be active daily. It may seem tedious at first, but this is a great way to keep your audience engaged and excited about your music. Post weekly or biweekly about your new music, upcoming shows or tours, photos of you performing live – whatever people feel comfortable following. Be sure to reply to messages and comments on a regular basis as well!
Promote online radio stations
Online Radio Stations are becoming more popular by the day as people find themselves listening to their favorite songs on sites like YouTube and Spotify. Speaking of Spotify, have you tried buying Spotify plays, it’s a good strategy also. Be sure to upload your songs onto these sites, as well as SoundCloud.
If you’re good at what you do then one of the best ways to promote online radio stations is by offering free downloads for a limited time only! Your fans will be excited that they’ll get access to exclusive music in this way.
There are many different types of artists out there with all kinds of unique sounds – make sure that when promoting your music on an online station, it’s something similar enough so that people who like it would also likely enjoy yours! It might take some trial-and-error before finding the right fit though… so don’t give up too soon!
Utilize email marketing
Email marketing is a great way to reach your fans, and there are lots of apps out there that can help you manage email lists. One popular service is MailChimp. It’s free up to a certain number of subscribers so it won’t cost you anything!
If you have an existing fan base then this will be easy for you – just send them updates on new music or upcoming shows. If not, try offering exclusive content only available through the mailing list (not via social media), such as songs before they’re released or behind-the-scenes videos from photoshoots!
Create a website
Fans of new artists are always excited to find out more about them. It’s important for you to have a website so that your fans can learn the basics about who you are and what makes your music special! You should also include all contact information, social media links, streaming services where people can listen/purchase your tracks (iTunes, etc.), any upcoming shows or tours… whatever they might be interested in knowing!
Host an event
If you have a large enough fan base then one of the best strategies is to host an event! Fans love being able to see their favorite artists in person, and it’s also fun for your fans to meet each other.
If you’re not sure how much interest there would be in hosting an event with just your current fan base, try reaching out on social media first – give them all advance warning so they’ll know months (maybe even years) ahead of time when the next big show will be happening. You can use Instagram or Facebook live videos as well during this process… ask questions about what people want from future events like these!
Collaborate with other artists
Collaborating with other artists can be a great way to gain new fans! Fans of the artist you collaborate with will likely become instant fans of yours as well, and vice versa.
It’s always good to do something unique too… So try collaborating on a track that neither one of you has done before or in a style that is different from what either fanbase would usually listen to. This strategy works best if both artists truly believe in each others’ music – it won’t work out well otherwise!
On top of finding common ground musically, make sure there is enough time for rehearsals ahead of time (at least an hour) and everyone involved knows what they’re doing beforehand as well.
Promoting your music and creating a fan base can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. Follow the tips we outlined here and you will soon find yourself with more listeners than ever before!
