Blender & 3ds Max Render Engines

Blender offers three types of engines:

  • Eevee. This tool does not calculate lights as well as cycles. However, Eevee makes it really easy and fast to deliver the image. 
  • Workbench. This instrument is created for modeling preview. It usually does not suit for creation of the final result.

3ds Max render engines:

  • Arnold. It is a default and recommended tool for rendering, perfect for combining lights, shadows, and camera angles. Often used for animation purposes.
  • ART. It is a fast tool that allows you to save time thanks to the available noise filter, which will make the picture slightly smoother.
  • Scanline. It creates 2D images with the help of multiple horizontal lines. This tool is not physically accurate.

You can say that all the early-mentioned engines can be used, depending on the task you have. If you need more realistic images, cycles or Arnold can come in handy. If you seek other results, you can try out other engines to see what works the best for you.
