Google + Twitch.tv = ?

Twitch.tv, a very popular website that allows video gamers to live stream videos has been purchased by Google for a hefty 1 Billion. The branded site went live in 2011 and has recently been under the microscope a few months ago for its famous social experiment Twitch plays Pokemon.

Sources indicate that the deal will be all in cash, but is still a whiles away from being closed. What do you think Youtube will do with the channel and audience? Twitch.tv has a very loyal following and Google may be making a very smart investment after seeing how viral the live streaming videos can become. Google would be in control of a very niche “live audience” that could potentially be very enticing to advertisers. Google must have big plans for the site – we will find out in the near future.
